  • Challenge: A hotel opening is one of the most stressful times at a hotel for employees
  • Solution: Students should feel well prepared for the work environment on their first day and understand that it is only a temporary situation

Key Teaching Points:

  • Management’s focus will be on pressing issues
  • “Try as you go” mentality is required because standard operating procedures may not be in-place or fully covered
  • Difference between soft opening vs. grand opening
  • It is always exciting to be a part of a hotel opening
