10-10:50am: Cultural Intelligence

  • Challenge: Hotel employees might not know that the attitudes and behaviors that they are accustomed to do not always apply to people outside of their own culture
  • Solution: Students should know how to adapt their personal behavior in order to respectfully interact with people outside of their own culture

Key Teaching Points:

  • The wide-variety of cultural differences that exist in the world
  • Having empathy & respect for other’s principles and values
  • How to pick up on cultural differences
  • How to interact with someone when you are uncertain of his/her customs

  • International “Meet-and-Greet” Exercise

10:50-11:00am: 10 MINUTES BREAK
